We make a lot of fun of Gabe, the guy you always see with his legs hanging out while he is contorted into a Bugeye Boot. The truth is he is a master body guy with about 30 years of experience, and fortunately he is flexible enough to work his way into the hind quarters of a Bugeye for some quality metal work.
In this video, you will see Spike, who suffered a rear hit, getting a rear end makeover, as Gabe slowly coaxes the metal back into position, so that bodywork can be completed and new paint applied. It’s not easy to swing a hammer inside the confines of one of these trunks, but you can see Gabe work a body dolly and deliver the blows where he needs to work the contour back to stock. This is of course just the first stage of the repair, in order to re-form the foundation, so that additional pulling out, grinding and fairing can begin, with paint as an end result.
Spike is now sold and will be heading to a new home in Arizona.
