Here’s a January drive in Horton, one of our Bugeyes currently for sale. Click here to see the cars currently in inventory. Horton has a 948 engine, which is about 1/3 the size of the power-plant in the 944 we’re following. Still, little Horton can hold his own in the twisties.
Having owned a black 944 myself a few years back as my daily driver, I can report that in the Porsche, people would routinely close the gap when making highway lane changes or at on ramps. It was a fantastic car and I love Porsches, but mine didn’t make me any new friends, unless they were other Porsche nuts.
Little Bugeyes, on the other hand, offer a huge unpretentious invitation to the world to come and say hello. Bugeye pilots routinely enjoy thumbs up, winks, high-fives and multiple encounters with folks hanging out the windows of sedate modern automobiles with camera phones blazing.
For horsepower, choose a Porsche. For love-power, choose a Bugeye.
