This is Dobbs, a nice Bugeye for anyone who wants a really fun and great-driving car, without the worry of a trailer-queen finish.
The paint on this car is fine, but has had some brake fluid dripped on the tail by the prior owner so there is a mark you can see in the photos. A little paint is also missing in the license plate area, which could be easily covered with a British license plate. The important thing is that the metal underneath is solid, and the car drives great. These minor cosmetic imperfections will help save the new owner some money on the initial purchase, and if you are looking for a solid Bugeye at a great price, then Dobbs is the car for you!
The car was very well maintained by a car collector, who admired the reliability of this car, which always started for him, while the other more expensive cars in his collection sometimes did not.
This car works so well because it has a strong 948 engine that was rebuilt recently, as well as an electronic fuel pump. If you look in the engine bay, you can see how clean the rebuilt engine and carbs look–there are not many miles on this powerplant. The four speed transmission works great, with good synchros and no issues.
The wiring harness was also recently replaced with a reproduction correct original harness.
The car is a blast to drive and can be driven and enjoyed right now. You could repaint this car, but it is nice enough for carefree cruising, without fear of nick or scratch. Here’s a car you park without worry, and drive around town with a big grin. This simple car will delight the new owner for many miles to come!
He has a tonneau and top frame but no top. Interior is quite good, with good seats, recent carpet and special MG/Sprite period lap belts.
Dobbs is fun waiting to happen! Call or email if you would like to adopt him!
