Cecil is a very solid car that looks great!
This just a two-owner car, purchased by Cecil on March 24, 1964 per the original title which we have with the car. This Bugeye was lovingly cared-for by the same owner ever since and as such, Cecil is another one of our Bugeyes with a well-documented history.
The car has some great modifications like a new solid state electronic fuel pump and new downdraft Weber carburetor. The underside is quite good. The engine is a strong 948 which starts right up and runs well… check it out running in the videos in the “Read More” section below.
He has an excellent original underside-great floors and spring perches with no rust!
Cecil will need new front shocks to return to his former glory (we can change them for you, or provide them for the new owner to do these on their own). We have just replaced the brake and clutch master cylinder with a sleeved rebuilt unit, and all the wheel cylinders, brake shoes and hoses, and slave cylinder–a complete hydraulic restoration is now complete!
The key must have been lost, as the former owner rigged a toggle switch to activate the ignition and fuel pump. Bugeye keys aren’t exactly high security anyway! New Key and lock cylinders are also available, for about $30, if you want to return the system back to original.
We’ve just covered the cockpit trim over the dash in new black vinyl as original, a nice enhancement!
If you want a solid and fun Bugeye with which you can tinker and which won’t break the bank, Cecil is for you.
See the photo album linked below for more pictures! Check out the lovely engine compartment, freshly detailed! Looks great!
Take a test drive!
Tour the car in the video below (note the cockpit trim above the dash has now been recovered in the correct black vinyl and looks great! See the driving video for up-to-date images).
