It’s a knockout, and I just want to stare at it every time I get out. You can click to enlarge any photos. And click “read more” below to see a rather large photo album that showcases this Healey from all angles.
I love all Healeys but I wish there were more two-seaters out there like this one because it’s just a lot nicer cockpit without the 2+2 rear seats you see on so many big Healeys. The parcel shelf on the back is much more useful than those two small seats that really don’t accommodate anyone… nor would your wife forgive if you put your small kids back there anyway! So this is a rare car… it is much more common to see the 2+2 cars.
This particular example was nicely restored about five years ago on the west coast. The body was restored at that time with new sills and any rust was cut out with new metal welded-in. The paint job is excellent. The chrome is mostly new and all excellent.
The engine has great oil pressure and runs wonderfully. Overdrive works flawlessly, engages and disengages every time you flip the switch on the dash.
The interior features new seats and carpet. Gauges are all original and working. Dashboard is not perfect, but very good. Wheels are new 60 spoke chrome wire wheels with new Vredestein tires. Ride quality is excellent. A new top and nice complete frame are included, but not pictured.
This drive left me with a grin ear-ear. Click below to ride along with me!
Engine is clean, trunk is clean, seats are new. She was upgraded with disk brakes and calipers from a later Healey. She is further upgraded with a later three liter engine for more power, with a better manifold and breathing. Nice big bore exhaust too! The car sounds fantastic.
This engine is a 29D engine from a 1960 3000 mark 1–engine number is #29D RU/H24535 124 hp/162 foot-pounds torque. The early 100/6 engine would have been 2.6 liters, and 102 HP/142 foot-pounds of torque… so this package has a nice increase in horsepower and torque.
We just serviced the carbs and fuel system. We also recharged the K & N airfilters, a nice addition. Also, there were a few pinholes in one of the outriggers underneath, so we cut out the old outrigger and welded in a new one. You can see it in the photo album, if you are interested, but the underside is now fully sorted, and the car is ready for a new owner and great fun.
