We’ve had our share of worn gear boxes come through our shop so technique is important, and gentle use of the shift lever can help to extend the life of your Bugeye (or any old car) transmission. I wanted to post this video below shot in my 1967 MGB to help anyone just learning the basics of double clutch downshifting. Everything I discuss holds true for any old car, Bugeye-xk 120-MGA-anything.
I also wanted to share this amazing video of Ayrton Senna driving an NSX. Check out his loafers as he demonstrates heel-toe technique. I am a big fan of his and I highly recommend the great DVD about his life, called “Senna.”
Good Bugeyes can be driven hard (with good technique) too!
