I got a few great nostalgic photos this week from the guys who bought the Bugeyes out of the showrooms so we could all enjoy them today! Here’s one in Nevada Whitehall Beige, which replaced Primrose Yellow in the Bugeye color line-up in January of 1959, at car number 9605:
This is my 1960 Austin Healey Bugeye Sprite. This picture was taken in 1961 and the trophies on the bonnet are the ones from a season of Gymkhana Racing throughout the Mid Atlantic States.
I came in 2nd place overall at the final event in Brandywine, Delaware. I would take the windshield off [4 screws] and the exhaust muffler, [right on the rear of the pipe] and the front bumper, ,clean out the boot though the seats and run the time trials. Lot’s of fun with that Bugeye, including a trip to Florida non stop with a friend in 1963 from Baltimore, MD to Miami, FL BEFORE there was an interstate system……… running Rt 301 to Rt 17 to Rt 1 all the way.
Thanks for your time, loved that car!
