Wallee is now sold and will enjoy a fly in and drive home to South Carolina via New England! What a nice way to pick up your new Bugeye! Congratulations to the Scotts!
This week we welcome “Wallee” (AN5L 21815) to our roster of Bugeyes for sale. This is a car fully restored by a passionate collector, who has had several Spridgets, and done them all quite well!
This car was completely stripped to bare metal and all rust was cut out and replaced with new
sheet metal. You can see some photos of thorough and careful preparation of the project as it comes together in the album below.
The restorer found this car in about 2009 after it had had been sitting since 1971 with just 32k miles indicated! He stripped it all, blasted everything, sealed everything, and assembled what you see displayed. It was painted base/ clear Jaguar emerald green, a very nice paint job, nicer than what would have come on any new Bugeye.
The engine was torn down and rebuilt with new pistons, rings, valves, etc. It was rebuilt with a hotter cam and bigger head, so performance is quite good, this is a 948 engine with extra zap! Electric fuel pump and spin-on oil filter upgrades were added.
Original smooth case transmission was also torn down and rebuilt. Shifts wonderfully today! Runs great too!
3.9 differential for better highway cruising. King pins were not restored, I would redo the bushings. Everything else on the car was meticulously redone.
Top is great, side curtains are great.
This is a nice one! Call or email for pricing. And you can go for a drive in the video below!
