Sold and now living happily in Tennessee! Congratulations Ron!
This is a one-of-a-kind Mark III Super-Sprite, with the best of everything installed. It was tastefully modified for great looks and a superb ride. The engine was bored to 1380 cc, everything was balanced, everything was replaced. The car now has more than 100 HP and it’s a delight to drive. All the work was done just 5000 miles ago.
A five speed Datsun transmission was fit to the power plant, as was a performance distributor with electronic ignition. A fat sway bar and wide tires on minilight knock-offs help keep the car stuck to the road with no body roll. The performance exhaust has a great note. The rear axles are uprated to handle the extra power. This car is a blast to drive. Roll-up and vent windows (which premiered on the mark 3 in 1964), are a bonus!
She’s finished with a dazzling BRG/yellow paint job. The stripes are properly clear-coated for durability. The interior is custom tan leather with matching green piping. The top and tonneau are new and match the interior. Everything about this car is top-shelf. Look for a feature story all about this Sprite in a leading collectible car magazine in 2014. That article is a powerful testimonial about the special nature of this particular car.
I fell in love with this car while it hung on my wall for a month in the Austin Healey Club annual calendar. The car also won Trophies at a National Austin Healey gathering. You could tell the restorer poured his soul into the project and obsessed about every detail. He is also a well-respected leader in the Austin Healey community, so I purchased this car without hesitation. And if you’re looking for the ultimate square Sprite, you will not be disappointed!
