“Rocky” (AN5L 32752) is named after the guy who managed this meticulous three-year build of a former California car. It was finished with an excellent and accurate olde English White paint job and blue leather seats and interior. It’s plush!
This car comes with some fantastic and very tasteful upgrades like leather seats (vinyl was stock), solid state electric fuel pump, more convenient spin on oil filter assembly (the correct original ((and messy)) canister assembly comes with the car) and uprated rib case four speed transmission. Another big asset is improved front disk brakes. Otherwise, the car is completely stock, with the correct 948 engine.
I most appreciate that the cockpit is completely accurate and authentic, with a very well finished original steering wheel and shift knob as an accurate and authentic interface between driver and machine. It’s a joy to see another mint Bugeye join the fleet. Indicated mileage is 61,814, but as I have said before, on a British car indicated mileage doesn’t tell you much (many of these speedos have broken over the years and been replaced). What matters is that the car has been completely rebuilt and this car now starts a whole new life.
This car makes no excuses and has no flaws. It’s a high level investment grade car that can win national shows and will invite celebration from most people who see it. Everyone loves to see an immaculate revival of these petite classics, and people everywhere acknowledge that the history that lives inside every Bugeye Sprite deserves to live on forever.
