Now sold (our 163rd!) and heading to Kentucky! Congratulations Mike!
This is Marc, a sweet-driving unmolested 1960 Bugeye!
In December of 2012, we did about $5500 in service and upgrades to this car. We just purchased it from the recent owner, and, as always, we are happy to have back a car that we have already gone through and that we know works great!
We have the full worksheet on file for the car’s recent build-out. Included was all new front and rear wheel cylinders, new sleeved master cylinder, new tonneau, new distributor with electronic ignition, LED tail and brake lights, spin-on oil filter conversion, air horn, three point retractible seat belts and more! He’s gone under 500 miles since this work was done.
He’s a solid car with a rebuilt engine and overall this is a great deal. We would recommend Marc if you are looking for a turn-key fun driver that’s ready to go at a great price.
This car sports a strong 948 engine that was recently rebuilt-you can see it still looks quite clean and freshly painted after the rebuild. The car drives beautifully. We’ve also replaced the rear radius arm bushings and aligned the front end to make the ride tight and rattle free.
The engine starts right up and pulls nicely, with good oil pressure, no smoke, and great fun! The car also has a great solid-state electronic fuel pump that’s mounted on rubber isolators and hidden behind the rear bulkhead under the car.
This is a nice upgrade!
Marc has a great original dashboard with all the correct gauges and switches, all working, and the running gear is also completely stock. This is a rare unmolested example maintained by a true Bugeye enthusiast!
Marc, the former owner, had him since 1988, and he’s been well-cared for and garaged ever since.
I met Mark about 10 years ago, when I heard there was a guy who was really into Bugeyes that I needed to meet. I drove my Bugeye (Gumby) to his house, and found four wonderful Bugeyes all packed into one bay of a two car garage!
(That’s Marc in his former home, on the left below ((without the luggage rack))-true sign of a Bugeye-lover– Bugeyes parked at a 4:1 garage ratio!)
Marc and I have been friends ever since, and this is the second Bugeye he has sold to me so I could find the car a great new home.
The car shows beautifully with a nice shine as the pictures convey. There are a few minor nicks in the paint when you look closely but he still presents beautifully. Interior is quite nice, with new carpet. We also added trunk carpet for the prior owner in December of 2012.
The underside is quite solid. The top is functional although old and a bit shrunken with a rear window that has seen better days. We routinely custom fit new tops on these cars and can build a new one for Marc if you think you will ever use it. You can see a fresh top being fit to one of our customer’s cars in the photo album above.
Check him out in the driving video below! This is a fun car ready to roll, and ready for many great adventures!
